The Benefits of Longevity: How to Keep Your Body Fit and Young

Many people always ponder on their earlier days as a youth, but fail to realize that age is just another number and they could very well look the way the did when they were younger, only if they work at it.  Many men and women think that saying, ‘age is just another number‘, is a myth, but it is true.  You are as young as you feel.  When Jamie Lee Curtis was on the Oprah Winfrey show, Oprah asked her, “how do you stay so young looking?”, she then answered, “oh I feel young and I believe, age is just another number.”   She was right, each year when you have a birthday, it is a blessed year and only a higher number; therefore, if you live your life based on your age, you will most likely feel and look it.  You must make a decision to live your life based on what and how you feel about yourself and just be grateful you are alive.  Believe or not, there was actually a time when it was popular to be older, then centuries later, it changed, it became popular to be young.  The question is, do you feel like you have to live your life based on popularity? If so, then it would be impossible for you to learn how to keep your body fit and to remain young, because your thoughts are responsible for the way you feel about yourself.  When you control your mindset, regardless of how the way the rest of our society views age, then you can train your body to remain fit and young.    Because the majority of people within our society are guilty of “Ageism (hatred and prejudice against older people)“, then this why there are a lot of people dying early.  For centuries, the thoughts of mankind have changed and disrespected older generations so much, people fear growing old.  The fear of growing old comes from how we treat ourselves.  For example, on the released tapes revealing Michael Jackson’s in depth secrets, he told his friend, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach he thought is was ugly to get old and he was afraid of aging.  Michael Jackson allowed his thoughts to rule how he felt about himself.  It may have been because of majority society’s ageism or it may have just been what he thought about age, either way, Michael had the power to control his thoughts.  One important thing to remember about growing old, the beauty in getting older is how we conquer negative thoughts and one of those thoughts is the fear of growing old.  Most likely, Michael Jackson would have been here, if he had chose to beautifully grow old and thought of it as beautiful and not ugly.  It is spiritually offensive to judge our years as ugly and when you do, naturally it will affect your body.  I do not care how much you exercise, eat right or take vitamins, you must choose positive thoughts about yourself as you grow older, gracefully.

The insanity of our society is that when you turn 40, they do not see that as young, but if you die at 40 they see it as young.  You see, this is why it is so  very important for you to dominate your own thoughts, because if you allow society to make you who you are, you will be miserable for the rest of your life.  The key to longevity is to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and see yourself as if you were 20 years old, even if you are 50, 60, 70 or older, because it is your inner soul that makes you who you are.  Each and everyday you wake up, although you maybe 40 or older, choose to live your life as if you have remained at least 20 years old, because your life never grows old, many times it is your mindset that is ancient and will not allow you to enjoy your youthfulness.

Avoid any sort of media that make you feel old.  It could be what you watch on television or the conversations you hear that is causing you to feel old.  Sometimes, it is the company you keep that will rob you of feeling young.  Many people who may envy you will definitely say things to destroy your confidence.  It could be your boss, teacher, spouse or a relative that is constantly saying things to feed your mind with toxic lies, but you must somehow avoid hearing it, even if you have to make changes to do so, whatever you do not be in the presence of people who use psychology to make you feel old, this is a form of abuse and believe or not, it happens on a daily basis, this is the very reason we have a problematic society.

When you learn how to train your mind to respect how your feel about yourself and you are able to view yourself as a young person, you must immediately reform what you maybe doing wrong.  If you are not active, start moving around, even if it is taking a walk for a mile, everyday.  If you do not have money to join a fitness club, you can exercise at home, even if it is running in place or just by doing simple house cleaning, whatever you do to move around will make you feel better.  Make sure you are not allowing anything to steal your time from exercising your body.  Train your body to stay active.  Speaking of taking walks, if you are a woman, make sure you do not go out after dark and if it is evening time, take a friend or your spouse with you, but a good time to go for a walk is in the morning.

Choose to constantly do something you like to do.  A lot of people work hard to pay bills and stay indoors, so they do not spend time on hobby.  Most definitely, it would be a good idea to keep busy with what makes you happy.  If it is playing a sport like tennis, or basketball, spending time with a hobby will not only keep you active, but it will keep you happy, because this will help build your character and keep your mind off of things that do not benefit you.  You see, a lot of times when we do not have anything to do with or time, we tend to think about senseless things: who said something to hurt our feelings at work, what family member is telling lies on us, or a former boyfriend who cheated on us with a supposedly good friend. If you spend enough time on a hobby, I guarantee you, you will not be thinking about things that will not help you, but depress you.  You must make time to do something you enjoy doing, so you will remain feeling good about yourself.  The more you feel good about yourself, the younger you will feel.

Change your wardrobe, many times when we do not have the money to buy decent clothes, we buy anything we can afford, even if it does not look good.  The advantage of you visiting this blog is, we not only teach you how to make money, we teach you how to stay healthy.  What good would it be for you to learn how to be wealthy and not be healthy?  Make an effort to earn enough money to buy good clothes.  You may just be wearing clothes that are 5 years old, if this is the case, throw them out and buy some new clothes.  Stay up to date with the latest trend.  If you cannot afford to do so, just do the best you can and pick out clothes that are not made for grandma or grandpa, but shop for clothes that are going to enhance your beauty.  Therefore people will not only see you as a youthful individual, but you will be able to finally feel young, again, all because you changed the way you dress.  Make some time and go through your wardrobe, throw out everything that is not making you look good, then either throw them away or even better, donate them to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.

What are you eating?  Are you eating too much?  Possibly, you worry a lot so you eat a lot of junk food.  Stop eating your life away and begin holding onto your life with value.  If you are eating a lot of junk food, then you need to break that bad habit and begin eating a lot of fruits and vegetables.  If you desire to prolong your life, then you have got to stop eating junk food like potato chips, candy, burgers, fries and ice cream…any sort of food that is not healthy, you must be wise and stop eating it.  Start eating whole grain cereal for breakfast and then eat some fruit and unsalted nuts for lunch.  For dinner, eat a meal like skinless breast and a toss salad.  You will be surprised how much better you will feel, a week later.  If you continue to eat right, you will feel right.  Your nutrition is important when longevity is your goal, so make a commitment to a healthy diet.

Change your friends, as mentioned above, in order to feel good about yourself you must avoid negative conversations about you.  Many times, this also means permanently dissociating yourself with friends who don’t care about you.  If you are constantly being disrespected by them or their friends they bring around you or  family, then you need to immediately stop being their friend.  Start finding friends who care enough about you to respect you.  Many times, people who drink alcohol, use drugs and profanity can bring you down so low, it affects your mindset.  You must cut them off and start spending time with people who only speak about positive things.  For instance, think about attending a Tony Robbins conference, you may just find you a good friend with the same mindset who has respect for life and enjoys longevity.  If you spend time with people who want good things out of life, then you will begin to feel good about your own and the people you used to hang out with will start to feel uncomfortable in your presence.  The average person will say, you should think of yourself better than anybody else; however, you should think your are too good to be around some people, because bad company will destroy how you feel about life and you cannot make room for negativity, but remain focused on positive things. Never  allow people to make you feel like you are a snob, because you refuse to accompany with them, but start feeling that your life is too good to be wasting time around them, the type of folks who have no vision or respect for themselves.  Steer away from people who stir up mischief, envy and strife and start accompanying yourself with people are the opposite.  As we get older, bad influences never stop.  We were always told as a child not to hang around other children or adults who were a bad influence.  Remember, as you continue to live, bad influences are never good for you, so stop allowing people to negatively influence you.  Another example of bad influences are people who are always telling you, you are too old to dress a certain way or do certain things, let them go; again, do not allow people to rule how you feel about yourself.  If you are 40 years old, it is okay to wear what a younger woman wears, if you can fit it.  If you cannot wear a particular dress meant for a 20-year-old, lose weight, then start wearing it.

In conclusion, we the key to longevity is learning how to control our mindset.  When you learn how to control your mindset, then you will began to do things differently.  Your eating habits will change.  People you used to spend time with, you will no longer desire to be around them.  Your positive thoughts will cause you to feel young and then learn how to be fit will no longer be a challenge.  When you learn to steer away from negative thoughts, positive thoughts will begin to control your destiny and this is what helps give you longevity.  Your life is in your hands, the key to longevity is controlling your mindset.  When you learn how to control your mind into positive thoughts about yourself, you will realize that age is just another number.  It is simple to keep your body fit and young, but you must make the choice to improve it and many times it is who we program or minds and the company we keep that will make us feel young or old.

Warner Music + YouTube

Revolver; are you gonna die happy?

Attention all Madonna fans! “Revolver” (featuring Lil’ Wayne) was released today. The track is part of Madonna’s new greatest hits collection, Celebration. The song is incredibly addicting. When I first heard that Madonna was going to team up with Lil’ Wayne, I was worried. Mainly because Lil’ Wayne is disgusting…but I really like this track. Madonna sounds sexy, and the rhythm is cool. I think what carries the song is the killer lyrics (pun intended).

“Line ‘em up. Knock ‘em down. My looks can kill. My body’s fully loaded. And I got more ammo. You’re an accessory to murder ’cause…My love’s a revolver.  My sex is a killer. Do you wanna die happy ? Do you wanna die happy?”

I do miss the old Madonna though. Her songs used to feel important. Every new album she puts out seems to lose the edge she once had. It was her edge that made me fall in love with her. I’m not saying I don’t love her new stuff, but honestly, Hard Candy was trying too hard. I keep waiting for a new Madonna song that totally blows me away, and it hasn’t happened since Die Another Day. Sure this new song will top the charts, but for the wrong reasons. Madonna seems to be giving in to mainstream fads, i.e. 4 Minutes with Justin Timberlake. In a marketing sense, the new greatest hits album is brilliant. The song Celebration was made for the European audiences, and Revolver was added to rope in American listeners. Celebration topped the charts in Europe, but failed for the most part in America. Revolver is guaranteed radio play and will appeal to new younger listeners, generating sells throughout the holiday season.  Obviously Madonna is good at comebacks and ‘reinventions’ so she could be outplaying everyone again in a year or two. Everyone knows it will never be over for her until she says so because face it… she’s Madonna. As a die hard fan, I will die happy, but only because I will be listening to “Holiday” when I do.

well-played cheryl, well-played.

so the new cheryl cole video “fight for this love” is online now and while, rather annoyingly, i cannot embed it, you can click here to watch it. when i first watched it i was going to give it a B+ but i’ve since decided to give the video the nearly unattainable grade (i’m a tough critic) of A-. AMAZE!

as you can already see from the images it above, the video is fantastic. that whole red striped hood and glasses thing is probably my favourite moment style-wise in the video, although it does bear a striking resemblance to kylie in her “in my arms” video. actually she looks exactly like fellow girl aloud, nadine coyle, in a few shots too (see below). that latter is undeniably more intriguing than the former but i’m not docking her any marks as both looks are fabulous, stolen or not.

to be honest, when i first saw the video i wasn’t sure it really fit the song. but then i felt a nagging desire to watch it again. and there you have it; that indescribable it-factor that makes an A music video. you want to watch it over and over again because it somehow improves the song itself. i’m going to try and break down said it factor into point form so that we may possibly understand it for future generations of pop starlets to copy endlessly.

1. lots of outfit changes. seriously, cheryl’s in and out of clothes in the video like a stripper. i think i counted 7 different ensembles, not all of them fabulous.

2. wear something noteworthy, even if it’s not that fashionable. those leopard print pants: hideous, but you know what, i’m totally talking about them either way. WIN. i’m also not that keen on the whole military get-up: good idea, so-so execution.

3. dancers. ALWAYS IMPORTANT! actually, my favourite bit in the whole video comes at 3:06. best dance move ever. it’s like cheryl is the lead hen and they’re all her chicken bitches!

4. cgi, really great graphics. this video has amazing graphics. like they threw some money around on this clip. it probably had the budget of the first 15 girls aloud videos combined. it makes very little sense (amazing) but really blends in fantastically.

so for the above 4 reasons – dancers, a plethora of fabulous (or at least intriguing) fashions, cgi – the video “fight for this love” is a huge success. but all this got me thinking about cheryl cole – the popstar. i would expect this song and the subsequent album to be a significant success for mrs. cole and i think that if she continues to play her cards right she has a long and exciting future in the world of pop music.

specifically, something about cheryl and this video is making draw comparisons to madonna. it used to drive me crazy a few years ago when everyone was comparing britney to madonna as even then it was painfully obvious that britney was as thick as two planks whereas madonna is extremely intelligent and a master at manipulating situations to her advantage. i get this same sense from cheryl cole. she has navigated her career with great aplomb over the last few years becoming unarguably the breakout personality of girls aloud, thanks in part to the support of simon cowell via her appearance as an x factor judge. i think cheryl cole might just have the unstoppable will to demolish everything and everyone in her path to superstardom, much like a young italian american girl with daddy issues did all those fateful years ago.

only time will tell…

Jesus is more than a Boy Toy, he's a DJ!...Ramble

These days ‘men’ have been falling over themselves to be boy toys for cougars and pumas (sorry fellas, I don’t date kids in high school!) In order to really get a bankroll, fellas, you have to transform yourself into a diverse brand that can stand apart from your benefactors. A wealthy puma with a global brand would is a total catch because she can teach you her devious ways, propelling you to a level of self-promotion you never knew existed and will have you sucking at her fingers for another taste.

Being such a genetic lotto winner, Jesus, decided not to rest on the laurels of his inheritance, and get down to bringing love amongst the people. He found modeling and nightclubs allowed him to do this on a large scale. Then one night he prayed for the message to for the guidance to go global with his message of love. He prayed for someone who could help him promote his message.

God blessed Jesus with great bone structure and a world famous benefactor, Madonna. Hey, we all knew she had a deal with a higher power, we just didn’t know which one but despite the Kabblalah bracelet, Madge’s Catholic practices helped her get famous in the first place. She’s upgraded from faux Jesus, to a real Jesus. Madonna is paying her debt to God not only by adopting a rainbow tribe (Madge, you need an Eurasian next & I’m fully trained!), but making the dreams of Jesus come to light.

Jesus wants to be a DJ. If you haven’t already seen him being undressed in Madonna’s crotchscratchular (scratching is a DJ term, wink wink) “Celebration” video (she is celebrating getting another shot at the fountain of youth), here’s a little clip of him acknowledging Paul Oakenfold should stay behind the turntables himself:

I love you Paul Oakenfold but dancing is not your forte.

If you are on the fence about buying a ticket to Brazil, for Jesus’ October tour dates, you can get a taste of now by downloading his demo. I’m serious, it’s Music Monday, don’t you want to dance? For inspiration? Come onnnnnn, I’m waiting!

RABBI SHMULEY BOTEACH TAPS MADONNA'S FANBASE FOR MICHAEL JACKSON'S THIS IT IT FILM

What did Michael Jackson really think of Madonna? We know at MTV’s VMA Awards 2009 that Madonna thought highly of MJ, The King of Pop.

Well, one would think that Jackson family friend, Rabbi Sam (Shmuely) Boteach, would be ecstatic today, that you now can email a prayer on iphone apps from the US to be delivered on your behalf to Jerusalem’s wailing wall, for World Peace! But no, he’s not.

Rabbi Shmuley is more intent on dissing Madonna, to get the Pop Madgesty’s audiences attention onto the Jackson family legacy’s brand of global entertainment, Sunday.

Are the Jewish community of Los Angeles, renegging on their tithing system in these recession times? Surely not?! I guess synagogues need to make money too in these tough times and the Jacksons have a film to sell so clearly, they have the Hollywood rabbi on the go today.

Going via Yahoo News of UK & Ireland (what next?!!) Rabbi Shmyley reportedly used to film Michael Jackson, which of course, is  what all Rabbis do to bring them closer to God (WTF!). Anyway in his taped conversations with Jackson, Rabbi Shmuley says Jackson said these things of Madonna:

“I think she was sincerely in love with me and I was not in love with her,” Jackson is heard saying on the tapes. “She did a lot of crazy things. I knew we had nothing in common.” Can you even have an ego from beyond the grave?! Michael Jackson is doing a lot of ‘talking’ today, from Hollywood, aint he?!

Shmuley also adds Jackson said: “She is not sexy at all. I think sexy comes from the heart in the way you present yourself.”

Ouch! Diss! And that was the sermon of  the day from Rabbi Shmuley. I think I just might send a text to the wailing wall today myself, that Rabbi Shmuley leaves Madonna alone and actually focuses on his role as a Rabbi to spiritually enlighten others. How dare he diss Madonna like that. She’s a Jewish-friendly Kabbalah girl for crying out loud.

But very funny PR from the Jackson camp today. They’re so playful! With her sense of humor having survived  in navigating the fame game over her successful career in music and entertainment, I’m sure Madonna will be slightly amused by this today.

One things for sure, the This Is It documentary film has top PR! They’re working it on US Sunday trying to tap Madonna’s worldwide audience and get their attention.

Well you got it. Now Rabbie Shmuley, please get on with your praying! The world and your synagogue members need your prayers!

Shopping

Today Molly stayed at my mothers house, so we had the day all to ourselves. Usually that means doing things around the house, but we needed some time off. We just relaxed, and had fun. Looked at wallpapers for Molly´s room, and the guest room, and did some shopping.

I just got some basics that I needed, like some gray merino blend tights from Falke, which are so comfortable and soft. I got a t-shirt bra and matching briefs from Calvin Klein, and a scented candle from Voluspa. Usually I get the Saijo Persimmon, but this time I chose the Santiago Huckleberry and the scent is lovely. Very subtle, which I like. Molly got a small gift, a Moomin mug, with a picture of the Snork Maiden. She is going through a chest of jewels, which I thought will suit Molly since she evidently adores such things and the Moomin trolls. Every day she is covered in necklaces and bracelets, not something she got from me though since I use that type of things sparsely.

I also got some things for the house, and Madonna´s new greatest hits-album. I have been a fan since childhood, so it is a must-have. Although, when I was a child I was more “fan” as in fanatic than I am now. I do like her, but the walls are not covered with pictures of her anymore.

MADONNA: RAY OF LIGHT (VIDEO 42)

A Madonna Birthday Wish

A lady from Australia contacted us with a vision of her 40th birthday party. She’s going to dress up as her favorite idol Madonna with wig, pointed bra and all. The caricature is for the invitation card. She sent us a lot of reference pictures of Madonna and described every little detail of what she wanted. Most client gave us free play, but she was spelling out every little detail and that got us worried that we may miss out something and disappoint her. She paid by Paypal though it was her first time using the service, its a breeze.

This is not Madonna popping out of a birthday cake but a very big fan of her celebrating a 40th birthday.

We emailed her the high resolution file and got a positive response. She even penned us a nice testimonial. Thank you so much… you have done a fantastic job, I love the pic.  You have portrayed the Madonna look with the 80′ style just how I wanted it which is the theme of my birthday and have made it fun.  I can’t wait to send the invitation out. I would not hesitate to recommend you for any work as I know you would do a fantastic job and follow it through. All the best!

Valerie

Wanna see a porno?

Whether your answer is “no thank you” or “yes please”, you’ve got no choice. Gaga is everywhere. And if you do want the porno, just listen to ‘Love Game’.

‘Let’s have some fun that beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.’

Although she’s adamant she’s using a euphemism – the subtlety is about as blinding as her hair. If the ugly lyrics don’t give away that she’s talking about the male anatomy, the video clip certainly does.

The song and video clip should both come with a warning. If you’re listening, wear ear plugs whenever she’s singing to block out the sound of poorly crafted lyrics, and for the video clip – don’t let anyone under the age of 18 watch. Scantily clad Gaga parades around in a subway half naked, gyrating over men who look like they’ve been whipped straight from Bay Watch 2 – The Dominatrix series. I guess realism got canned when lip-syncing became a ‘must have’ for making it in the commercial music world.

But fans, don’t go Gaga just yet…my Poker Face can have a more forgiving side. It’s not that I don’t like the Lady. Hey I’m supposed to be the teenie-bopper of this blog, dissing this blondie is being a traitor to my own profile. Twenty years from now she could be seen as a crusader, akin to Madonna – who got people angry when she burned crosses, wore pointy bras and incorporated virginity into her song lyrics.  Madge brought us to a whole new understanding of what was ‘sexy’. The worrying thought is – where do we go from here? We’ve set the bar so low who’s going to dare to play limbo?

LV+Madonna: FW 2009/10

Madonna + Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2009-10

Madonna “Her Majesty” does it again… The now power couple of the fashion industry teams up for the second time to create one of the best and most talked about ad of the season. Like the last Spring/Summer 09, Madonna is starring in both the Louis Vuitton campaign and ‘making of’. An extremely elegant Marc Jacobs tells us about the collection while we watch Madonna behind the scenes.

Flirty, sexy, Avant-Guard, playful, powerful and expensive, very, very, very but very expensive. During this financial times, Marc knows how to create beautiful and covetable pieces for his loyal fans, who are not looking for affordable or regular clothes but something unique and super stylish, that should worth every penny.

Full of rich fabrics and interesting shapes, this collection has a very “French Court” vibe but with a very modern twist. There are amazing LV cocktail waitress dresses, as a statement for powerful women who would do anything for their men – Patent leather thigh-high boots laced with velvet ribbons made that very clear.  But we can not get over those now Iconic “I-Love-Lucy-Meets-PlayBoy” huge taffeta bows with bunny ears… just genius. And the handbags… OMG!!! as always iconic, covetable, luxurious and glamorous, just perfect.

Jacobs is a genious and he always gives us something spectacular, season after season to prove it. With hundreds of ideas that work every collection, you can not help but to enjoy and love every piece that walks down the runway or on any ad, and find something that would work for you.

Jackass AKA Kanye West

Kanye West was at it again during the MTV awards, dissing Taylor Swift’s Award for best Music Video -

Proving once again, an IQ above room temperature is not a prerequisite to becoming a rock star (or a member of Congress for that matter).

More interesting was this tidbit -

Mr. President, trying to work with Republicans – you have become the world expret on Jackasses.

We bow to your expertise. Now as to the reporter who released the “Off the record” comment – Very bad.

One of the few things of real interest in the MTV show was Madonna’s Eulogy to Michael Jackson, this was a real jewel -

[Via http://btx3.wordpress.com]

the genesis

What better time to start off a blogs existence than the day after the VMAs?

The Michael Jackson Tribute!!!!!!!!!!                      Madonna opened the show with a reminiscence of the brief semi-relationship she shared with Mr. Jackson in 1991. “I  can’t say we were great friends”, she said as she began. She went on to say that he was a hero and how having a childhood allowed her a chance to make certain mistakes that he didn’t have. Near the end of her tribute, she recalled the tragic day the world lost this great man… “All I could think about in that moment was…I had abandoned him — that we had abandoned him. That we had allowed this magnificent creature that once set the world on fire to somehow slip through the cracks. While he was trying to build his family and rebuild his career…we were all busy passing judgement. Most of us had turned our backs on him.In a desperate attempt to hold onto his memory, I went on the internet to watch old clips of him dancing and singing on T.V. and on stage, and I thought “my God, he was so unique, so original, so rare and there will never be anyone like him again… he was a king. But he was also a human being…and alas we are all human beings and sometimes we have to lose things before we can truly appreciate them.“  Finally after telling how her own sons are now obsessed with Mr. Jackson, she said, “…and it seems like a whole new generation of kids has discovered his genius and are bringing him to life again. Yes, yes Michael Jackson was a human being, but damn it,  he was a king.” She ended her tribute by saying, “Long live the king.”

After Madonna spoke, the dancing began. Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Bad…all were performed wonderfully (even though one dancer couldn’t seem to get his “Smooth Criminal Lean” to perfection) then…the moment most were waiting for had arrived. The intro to Scream (the song Mr. Jackson had done with his youngest full sister) began and everyone (especially Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys) was caught screaming their heads off . Then after the sound of glass shattering (as in the song) and with the actual breaking of a glass mirror, Janet Jackson appeared and performed the first live performance of the song. As I watched, I was just as mesmerized as I had been the first time I saw the music video. As well as Janet performed…petty idiots had to point out how she slipped during the dance breakdown. I was focusing on the more important aspects of the performance…Tina Landon (one of my favorite dancers) dancing beside Janet…and more importantly how Janet just killed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So to all of you a$$holes who want to linger on that one mistake think about this…if it were you, could you have played it off as well as she did?

Kanye does it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!        The attention whore took the mic from Taylor Swift and declared Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” the true winner of Best Female Videoin addition to being one of the best videos of all time. Taylor was therefore unable to complete her acceptance speech…but when Beyonce won Video of the Year, she gave Taylor the chance to complete her speech (kudos for Beyonce!!!!)

But was Kanye really wrong for voicing his opinion? Don’t get me wrong, how he did it was wrong…but come on, if he would have won one of the categories he was nominated in, and during his acceptance speech said the same thing, he would still have hurt Taylor’s feelings, and still be the upset of the show.

**side note** Did he and his girlfriend really get kicked out of the show?  That’s kinda extreme…and his girlfriend was dense for leaving with him if they asked him to go!!**

Hot performances of the night (imo)!!!!!!!!!!!!!                           Hands down Janet Jackson wins this category, but there were two other performances that came very VERY close to hers.  1. Lady Gaga: honestly, I hadn’t heard that song before last night but that performance was INSANE!!!!!!! Would anyone like to elaborate how and why she started bleeding out of nowhere? She’s flucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!   2. Pink: she as usual did outstanding…although, she had me scared while she was suspended in air…brave chick!! I sure as hell wouldn’t have done it…

lastly but nowhere near the least!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!                  After the VMAs ended…Janet’s hardcore fans received a gift. A new song called Make Me which can be heard here: http://www.janetjackson.com/gift?give=gift. This song is classic Janet and highly addictive. Take a listen for yourselves. The lyrics to Make Me can be found here

http://www.janetjackson.com/story/news/make_me_lyrics.

Well that’s all I have to say…comment and tell me how I’ve done : )

Photos from the performances listed above may be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/truli_rayne/.

But Where Was Madonna When Michael Needed Her?

Madonna recently gave a speech about Michael Jackson at the MTV VMA’s in New York. It was heartfelt, yet made me feel slightly uncomfortable. Here’s the full text:

Michael Jackson. [Cheers] I have a little bit more to say than that. OK, here we go again. Michael Jackson was born in August 1958. So was I. Michael Jackson grew up in the suburbs of the Midwest. So did I. Michael Jackson had

Madonna gives her speech

eight brothers and sisters. So do I. When Michael Jackson was six, he became a superstar, and was perhaps the world’s most beloved child. When I was six, my mother died. I think he got the shorter end of the stick. I never had a mother, but he never had a childhood. And when you never get to have something, you become obsessed by it.

I spent my childhood searching for my mother figures. Sometimes I was successful, but how do you recreate your childhood when you are under the magnifying glass of the world?

There is no question that Michael Jackson is one of the greatest talents the world has ever known. That when he sang a song at the ripe old age of eight he could make you feel like an experienced adult was squeezing your heart with his words. That when he moved he had the elegance of Fred Astaire and packed the punch of Muhammad Ali. That his music had an extra layer of inexplicable magic that didn’t just make you want to dance but actually made you believe you could fly, dare to dream, be anything that you wanted to be. Because that is what heroes do and Michael Jackson was a hero.

He performed in soccer stadiums around the world, and sold hundreds of millions of records and dined with prime ministers and presidents. Girls fell in love with him, boys fell in love with him, everyone wanted to dance like him. He seemed otherworldly — but he was a human being.

Like most performers he was shy and plagued with insecurities. I can’t say we were great friends, but in 1991 I decided I wanted to try to get to know him better. I asked him out to dinner, I said “My treat, I’ll drive — just you and me.”

He agreed and showed up to my house without any bodyguards. We drove to the restaurant in my car. It was dark out, but he was still wearing sunglasses.

I said, “Michael, I feel like I’m talking to a limousine. Do you think you can take off your glasses so I can see your eyes?”

Then he tossed the glasses out the window, looked at me with a wink and a smile and said, “Can you see me now? Is that better?”

In that moment, I could see both his vulnerability and his charm. The rest of the dinner, I was hellbent on getting him to eat French fries, drink wine, have dessert and say bad words. Things he never seemed to allow himself to do. Later we went back to my house to watch a movie and sat on the couch like two kids, and somewhere in the middle of the movie, his hand snuck over and held mine.

It felt like he was looking for more of a friend than a romance, and I was happy to oblige. In that moment, he didn’t feel like a superstar. He felt like a human being.

We went out a few more times together, and then for one reason or another we fell out of touch. Then the witch hunt began, and it seemed like one negative story after another was coming out about Michael. I felt his pain, I know what it’s like to walk down the street and feel like the whole world is turned against you. I know what it’s like to feel helpless and unable to defend yourself because the roar of the lynch mob is so loud you feel like your voice can never be heard.

But I had a childhood, and I was allowed to make mistakes and find my own way in the world without the glare of the spotlight.

When I first heard that Michael had died, I was in London, days away from the start of my tour. Michael was going to perform in the same venue as me a week later. All I could think about in this moment was, “I had abandoned him.” That we had abandoned him. That we had allowed this magnificent creature who had once set the world on fire to somehow slip through the cracks. While he was trying to build a family and rebuild his career, we were all passing judgement. Most of us had turned our backs on him. In a desperate attempt to hold onto his memory, I went on the internet to watch old clips of him dancing and singing on TV and on stage and I thought, “my God, he was so unique, so original, so rare, and there will never be anyone like him again. He was a king.”

But he was also a human being, and alas we are all human beings and sometimes we have to lose things before we can appreciate them. I want to end this on a positive note and say that my sons, age nine and four, are obsessed with Michael Jackson. There’s a whole lot of crotch grabbing and moon walking going on in my house. And, it seems like a whole new generation of kids have discovered his genius and are bringing him to life again. I hope that wherever Michael is right now he is smiling about this.

Yes, Michael Jackson was a human being but he was a king. Long live the king.

Madonna wasn’t there for him in his darkest hour, during those hard times. She met him a few times, they lost touch. And yet I felt as though this speech was more about here than Michael’s memory.

Like so many who have spoken about MJ since his passing, this felt somewhat contrived. A lesson in good public relations rather than a heartfelt message from a friend.

The people who were closest to him (his mother, Janet, his children) have maintained a dignified silence, because they saw MJ as Michael or Dad, not The King of Pop. This speech made me feel extremely uncomfortable for this reason.

Janet’s tribute however, through song and dance, was an amazing testament to the joy MJ brought to many lives. Janet didn’t speak, she just looked above when her performance was over.

Incredible

Quem vai levar a melhor?

I’ts Britney Bitch, baby!

Além desse povo, vai ter Green Day, Pink, Jay-Z, Beyoncé e Muse.

Mazes of Snoop Dogg, Madonna, Ed Kennedy and more celebrity maze portraits

Get lost in the corn maze at DeVries Farm near Olathe Activities – Events Wednesday, 09 September 2009 00:00 An aerial view of this year’s corn maze at DeVries Farm near Olathe. The maze is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ready to get lost on the farm? DeVries Farm near Olathe has created a fun corn maze again this year and it is now open.

The mazes are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily between now and Halloween (even later in the season if conditions allow). The maze is filled with fun agricultural facts and takes about an hour to complete.

The corn maze and DeVries Farm is located off Highway 50 between Olathe and Montrose between mile markers 85 and 86.

Cost is $6.50 for adults (13 and older) and $5.50 for kids ages 4 to 12 and senior citizens (60 and older). A family pass is $20 for the first four, and then $3 for each additional family member. Group rates and night mazes are available upon special request.

According to Randy Friend, who came up with this year’s design, there are more than three miles of trails in the maze, covering 12 acres. Kevin Davis put the design to paper, and Mesa Surveying took that drawing and put it into GPS. It took four people one whole day to lay all the points out from that GPS. After growing the corn, Friend spent hours rotor-tillering all the pathways and getting it ready for opening day – it took about 200 hours to actually build the maze!

Upon entering the maze, you will find plants from six to 10 feet tall, planted in two directions to make it thicker and more challenging to find your way through the maze.

After the maze season ends, the field should yield about 2,000 bushels – about 56 tons – of corn, which will be used to feed chickens at Foster Farms. The corn stalks will be baled and fed to the 62 buffalo at the farm. Along with the maze, DeVries also has a u-pick pumpkin patch which will open later in September. Unclaimed pumpkins will also be fed to the buffalo.

Visitors will also find u-pick tomatos and roasted chilies, and a produce stand filled with fresh local fruits, vegetables and buffalo meat.

Also watch for details of the Olathe Volunteer Fire Department’s Punkin’ Chunkin’ event, set for Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. There will be activies all day long. Pumpkins will be thrown, the corn maze and pumpkin patch will be open, and contests for costumes, pumpkin decorating and pie eating. There will even be a haunted maze that night.

Friend said, “We are very excited about all this year’s events! We hope families will be able to have a fun-filled day on the farm.”

Reading matter

If Americans were polled on a single question — “Name the primary grievance behind the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001″ — how many would get it right, wonders Girish Sahane on his blog. [Charlie Sheen has his own answer]. Two other 9/11 stories I read this morning: one woman asks if she even wants to know the truth any more, while another [older story that I found through the related links segment] struggles with the guilt that 9/11 changed her life for the better. Elsewhere premiere sand artist Sudharshan Pattnaik pays tribute in the form he knows best. [Unrelated but fun, check out the underwater sculptures of Jaison de Caires Taylor]

Elsewhere, Sepia Mutiny on Lisa Ray, the actress currently battling a rare form of cancer. Lisa’s blog here.

While we mark the 40th anniversary of the Internet [timeline; a graphic representation of growth], spare a thought for Winston the carrier pigeon.

This week, a South African call-center business, frustrated by persistently slow Internet speeds, decided to use a carrier pigeon named Winston to transfer 4 gigabytes of data between two of its offices, just 50 miles apart. At the same time, a computer geek pushed a button on his computer to send data the old-fashioned way, through the Internet.

Winston the pigeon won. It wasn’t even close.

From Cricinfo: the art, craft, and magic of two legendary spin bowlers. Clip:

Thus the myth enters the imagination. So the bowler pays up, and pays up again and again till the batsman coughs it up and hands it over sheepishly. The phrase “buying a wicket” was now de rigueur all of a sudden. It also proceeded to cause endless headaches every time Bedi was bowling. Following the progress of the match became a temporal jigsaw puzzle that had no solution. Every ball was a head-scratcher in itself: furious thinking would ensue as one tried to place it in a pattern initiated overs ago. Or was a new sequence of trickery starting with it? Now, was that a set-up ball, to be cashed in by the Sardar a few overs later, or just a bad one? Or was it just an innocent bridge piece in the composition before the cymbal crash came, causing the batsman to walk back? Wicket balls were the easy ones, and a relief, too, for they reset the puzzle. Yes, those times were magical. The period when the strategy has sunk in but the tactics are shrouded in mystery.

This merits a separate blog post of its own, but in the midst of much, so: Read this and weep — The Allahabad High Court sees fit to not merely set aside the death sentence against Moninder Singh Pandher in the 2006 Nithari killings, but to acquit him altogether. Surinder Koli, the domestic servant who was Pandher’s partner in crime, however gets it in the neck. Figures, no?

What A Shoe Girl Wants

The ultiment fun girl Betsy Johnson puts a little fun in my step with these fabulous cherry patch-work wedges.

In 1984 I heard some of the most life shaping words, “Girls just want to have fun,” when Cyndi Lauper danced across my parents’ television with orange hair and a flare for wild fashion.  I was at the tender age of three and danced along with her in my mom’s heels, a leotard, sunglasses, and panties with ruffles on the butt while drinking juice from a wine glass.  I was not your typical child and I was learning not from PBS but from MTV.  The lesson I was learning was a simple one: girls just want to have fun.  And I was having fun.  I was “working” half days at preschool, going shopping with my mom, and taking my favorite stuffed animals with me wherever I went.

I was a shoe girl from the start, requesting a pair of patent leather Mary Jane’s in every color as soon as I could speak.  By the time my baby teeth were falling out I had moved past the tooth fairy and started negotiating new Jelly shoes and other fashionable items that cost more than a quarter in exchange for a front tooth.  My poor mom was once told by my ballet instructor that I should be put in dance class with some faster moves…I was shaking my butt too much for the music that accompanied the graceful non-bouncing dance style.  It was a bad sign of things to come in my future.

More than two decades later not much has changed.  Cyndi Lauper is on my MP3 player and I still have ruffles on my butt; only now I am in my own heels and I drink wine from those elegant glasses.  I still try to negotiate shopping trips from my dad, although his resistance has grown stronger.  I am pretty sure I can still re-enact any Madonna video from the 80’s.  And I can still say I am having fun.

To me it all seems pretty clear cut what most girls and I want out of life.  We want to have fun.  We want to shake our butts a little.  We want to wear lacy socks and actually I am kind of hoping the lacy headband bow comes back.  I know I cannot speak for every female, but I am sure most would agree it is just that simple.  Girls just want to have fun.

As basic as it seems, I still find myself banging my head against the figurative wall when it comes to getting guys to understand this simple notion.  Yes, there are very complicated women out there screwing it up for the rest of us, but sometimes I think men are making it harder than it has to be.  Look at the guy who said, “He’s just not that into you.”  Simple, right?  Wrong, it must be more complicated because he has written a book, had a television talk show, and even a movie spun out of it!  I say honest things all day long and all I get is an understanding smile.

So let me break it down for all of the guys out there who are convinced that dating has to be difficult.  Just let her have fun.   There!  It’s that simple, not even enough for a movie trailer let alone a full-length feature.

Perhaps I should expand slightly.   I do not need fancy dinners or events; in fact, that can be kind of boring and put too much pressure on anyone to “fit in” or be equally fancy.  Sitting in a silent restaurant with the sinking suspicion that the servers are listening in to our conversation kills the romance quickly.  As a girl who over dresses for every event, I have just as much fun dressing up for the bar as I do for an over-the-top display.    Seriously, take me and my heels out to the bar any night of the week.  Not the fancy one, the one with a barrel full of peanuts and a popcorn machine with a questionable history of cleanliness.  I want to sit at the bar and play the jukebox or at least be able to bribe the bartender to turn the radio to my favorite station.  Give me a long neck bottle so I can peel off the label.  I do not want to pair wines with a main course or eat a four-course meal that consists of two slices of tomato and a piece of cheese.  I am hungry; feed me real food!

The truth of the situation is that every girl likes a night where she is treated like a princess and made to feel like a lady, but those nights are not reality.  Living in fantasies can only last so long and often leaves you wanting to get back to a more down-to-earth style of life.  The reality is that, like everyone else, a girl needs to relax sometimes and just be part of the crowd.  She wants to toss peanut shells on the floor and maybe even play a game of dice.  She just wants to have fun.

After all, Cyndi Lauper may have summed it up best when she said, “Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world.  I want to be the one to walk in the sun.  Girl’s they want to have fun.”  Hey, we are all at our best when surrounded by friends.  I may only be a star with my friends but it’s where I shine the brightest because I can truly be myself and have fun.  Any guy who wants this shoe girl can not be afraid to share my world and hopefully walk in the sun with me.

At the end of the day I am still the girl dancing in high heels who shakes her butt a little too much.  But at least I am finding what I want and that is to have fun.  And it truly is just that simple.

MADINNA: DONT CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA (VIDEO 27)

Coro:

No llores por mi Argentina

mi alma está contigo

mi vida entera te la dedico

mas no te alejes

te necesito.

Jamás poderes ambicioné

mentiras dijeron de mí

mi lugar vuestro es

por vosotros luché

yo solo quiero

sentiros muy cerca

poder intentar

abrir mi ventana y saber

que nunca me vais a olvidar

No llores por mí Argentina.

No llores por mi Argentina

mi alma está contigo

mi vida entera te la dedico

mas no te alejes

te necesito.

Que más podré decir

para convenceros

de mi verdad

Si aún quereis dudar

mirad mis ojos

como lloran

de amor.
